Question:

What is the deal with The Baby Borrowers?

There is this show from the UK- apparently NBC is copying it in The States- that they are airing over here in NZ now where people give their babies up for two weeks (or so) to teenagers who think they could handle taking care of a baby. The 'experiment' is supposed to be birth control for the teens, which I totally get, but who on earth would give up their baby to some teenagers for a couple weeks? I mean, what would be the motivation for these parents? How can they trust these children to be good to their baby ('cause last season they certainly weren't)? And finally, why on earth would you ever want to be separated from your baby for two whole weeks? It would kill me. Can anyone explain this to me or do you know details that we don't- like the parents get to visit all the time or something?

  1. well here in the states its only 3 days that there seperated from there baby and the young couples are being monitored closely by the parents which are next door and can come in any time they feel they need to i dont know how it is exactly in nz but i think these parents are doing a wonderful thing for these teenagers

  2. I think the show is great, it shows how hard it is to take care of a baby and raise a family at the same time. Their are a lot of young mothers wanting to have children and this is good to see exactly whats its like. The babies mothers are watching them the whole-time through a monitor and they can step it at anytime. They also have people in the house 24/7 with them to monitor the child and what they are doing incase of an emergency and im sure the parents get to see their children. The show is great in my opinion

  3. they showed on tv that professionals are standing by ready to jump in if need be and the parents and other professionals watch live video feed in th ehouse next door.  there's alot more security then it looks.  the parents r only like 50 feet away.

  4. First, the parents are right across the street, and can intervene at any time. Second, there is a trained professional standing by, in the house to step in in case of emergency. Third, the BABIES are only there for 3 days. And then toddlers for x amount of days, grade-school kids, teens, etc. And each is closely supervised. =)

And yes, the show is great for teens. My 13 year old daughter loves it!

    Good Luck!

  5. i think they get to visit when the show isn't airing. or they probably get paid otherwise they are nuts to leave their kids with a couple of teenagers

  6. If you read a little bit more into it, the parents are right outside in trailers -watching- everything.  One father said the last time he got no sleep like this is when the baby was first born.  They whole experiment lasted two weeks, with a different age child every few days, so the children weren't gone for an entire two weeks from their parents.
