  1. Retreaded tyres are cheaper because they've been used already, but have just been shaved down to nothing, and had a whole new tread put on the ply. This allows the life of a tyre to be doubled, decreasing the impact on the environment.

Only truck or coach tyres, not car, bike or 4x4 tyres should be retreaded. If the tyres are retreaded by the tyre manufacturer or a company endorsed by the manufacturer, then they're safe and as good as new. Otherwise, they should not be bought. I would not recommend purchasing retreaded 265x75r16 tyres unless they're from the tyre manufacturer itself.

However, the website you mentioned (retreading.com) appears to only make the machinery for retreading. I don't actually see where they are selling tyres!?

You should always buy new tyres to be on the safe side, I would recommend 'BFGoodrich All Terrain's' - they're the best 4x4 tyres around.
