40m is the max for recreational diving...but i dunno for tech diving...

The world record is around 1,000 feet. But the typical max for a well trained very knowledgeable and skilled diver would be around 500-600. However most tech divers don't really go deeper than 300ft. I know going to 200 feet is fairly common on wreck dives. Recreational divers are only supposed to go as deep as 150 ft.
