  1. Angel station is not the deepest - But the station building is situatied on a hill, hence the long escalators.

Deepest is Hampstead 192ft accessed by lifts

  2. I believe it is angel.

  3. Just to point out the logic flaw of squirrellondon's answer.  Yes, Angel station does have the longest escalator BUT what about those stations with lift only access?  What about those which have two or more escalators to the platform... think things through squirrel!

  4. Kings cross has the deepest tunnels in the underground...as for station...no idea.

  5. The deepest station is Hampstead, see http://www.faqs.org/faqs/uk/transport-lo... at 192ft below ground

  6. Angel station (on the Northern line) has the longest escalator on the entire Underground system, therefore it stands to reason that this must also be the deepest station.

  7. Thierry I hope your not thinking of blowing it up? I have a really interesting old book about the London Underground if your interested I could lend it to you. It is all about the history of how the underground came about and the building of it.

  8. If people started thinking before giving answers there would be few answers.

But think how the quality of those answers would improve.

  9. Hampstead station is  the deepest station on the network at 192 feet below ground level. The platforms here are reached by the deepest lifts on the system which descend 181 feet.

  10. I've always thought that Russell Square was quite moody.

But deep? That's got me thinking

  11. The lowest point on the system is just south of Waterloo station on the Northern, where the tracks are 70 feet below sea level.   The absolute deepest part of the system is also on the Northern where, below Hampstead Heath, the rails are over 220 feet below the ground.

Nearby Hampstead station is also the deepest station on the network at 192 feet below ground level. The platforms here are reached by the deepest lifts on the system which descend 181 feet.

  12. Why do you want to know.

Not planning to blow it up are you
