What is the definition of More as sociological term?

I'm doing a culture report and am not sure what the "More" of a culture is.

  1. A "more" of a culture is a standard of decency among that culture.

    A woman walking around without a shirt would be considered violating a more. It's something that is fairly arbitrary, but it's still sent through society.


  2. Oh! I'm having such a hard time remembering! I took the class recently ... I know that folklores are just common behavior that is accepted in the society such as saying hello to someone when meeting them.

    So aren't mores like laws? Or there are usually laws that have to do with mores, like J-walking and driving. Probably stealing, too.

    Taboos are like, killing and incest. Really big things that are completely shunned in society. So more definitely is in between the two. Hope this hepls!
