Human Reason and Faith :By natural reason man can know God with certainty, on the basis of his works.

The Knowledge of God.: The Church teaches that the one true God, our Creator and Lord, can be known with certainty from his works, by the natural light of human reason.

Authority: A human law has the character of law to the extent that it accords with right reason, and thus derives from the eternal law. Insofar as it falls short of right reason it is said to be an unjust law.

Moral Conscience and Judgement: Conscience is a judgement of reason whereby the human person recognises the moral quality of a concrete act that he is going to perform, is in the process of performing, or has already completed.

The Natural Moral Law: Man participates in the wisdom and goodness of the Creator who gives him mastery over his acts and the ability to govern himself with a view to the true and the good. The natural law expresses the original moral sense which enables man to discern by reason the good and the evil, the truth and the lie.

Passions: In themselves passions are neither good nor evil. They are morally qualified only to the extent that they effectively engage reason and will. Passions are said to be voluntary, either because they are commanded by the will or because the will does not place obstacles in their way. It belongs to perfection of the moral or human good that the passions be governed by reason.

Sin Contrary To: Sin is an act contrary to reason. It wounds man's nature and injures human solidarity.

Virtues of Reason : Human virtues are firm attitudes, stable dispositions, habitual perfections of interlect and will that govern our actions, order our passions, and guide our conduct according to reason and faith.
