I'm having an argument here and if y'all could settle it for me that would be rly helpful. My friend says that domo means thank you and arigato means very much, but i say that arigato means thank you and domo means very much, which one of us is right.

  1. I'm the friend he was arguing with... 2 points!

  2. Domo is very much. Arigato is thank you. Your friend is an idiot.

  3. Neither. Domo and arigatou both mean "thanks". Using them together just kinda amplifies how grateful you are.

  4. domo means "many" or "very much" and arigato means "thanks"

  5. You're correct. "Arigatou" is "thank you". "Domo" just exemplifies it, so it translates to "many" or "very much", in this sense.
