General demand for housing in the different states and territories of of Australia.

I am a student who is wondering if I were to start a company that builds houses in American style sub-divisions would there be demand enough from people to buy the houses? Where would be the best place with the most demand for housing?

Would the government subsidize me if the houses were made affordable to low income families?

  1. I think you've missed the boat a bit, old chap. There's plenty of multi-million dollar companies (most Australian owned) already established here who buy up large blocks of land, sub-divide, build all the curb & channelling, put in all services such as power, phones, etc & build a variety of houses on the blocks. We call them 'housing estates'.

There are plenty of developers who already claim to cater for low income families. Our federal government subsidises 1st home buyers directly, not the developer.

  2. Other countries probably don't want anything American style, especially housing sub-divisions.
