What is the device called that allows me to project a movie (DVD or VHS) onto a large screen?

I want to purchase such a device but I'm unsure as to what exactly it's called. My intent is to have a large white sheet hang from my balcony outside in my backyard and have this projector display the movie onto it and have audio so we can hear the movie too. In a nut shell I'd like to have my own drive in theatre for my own viewing pleasure.
