  1. The biggest difference is the taste the wood lends to the pizza.  It also cooks at a higher heat (lending to a crispy outer crust w/ a chewy inside)  I do the pizza stones in the oven all the time lately though and they come out great. It's all about cooking at a high heat and making sure the pizza stone is heated for a good long time before you put the pizza on it.  Try it on the grill sometime too, it's great.

  2. a wood fired pizza oven cooks at an average middle temperature of 600 to 700 degrees F. a pizza stone is simply an addition to your home oven and will bake a pizza at what ever you set the oven to. Most commonly 400 to 450 degree range. a wood fired oven can bake a regular drust pizza in about 4 to 6 minutes. in your oven on a pizza stone it can take 14 to 18 minutes for the same pizza. A wood fired pizza oven is very expensive but has a far superior flavor and you can bake breads that are amazing in it to.

  3. Depends how your cooking with the pizza stone but generally they can have different textures ( crunchy crust, perfectly melted cheese) and the wood fired oven pizza can be infused with the smokey flavour.
