What is the diferrent between the normal eyesight check and when apply for a driving license?

the normal eyesight check i mean is that you took while in school like you have to cover one eye and read the alphabets. is it the same procedure when applying for a driving license in singapore?

Just curious to know.

No clue about Singapore but at most DMV's in the U.S. they have a little box you look into and read lines. No chart across the room like in school.
