I dont mean the sauces, the actual meatballs themselves. Basically, what spices are used. They taste so completely different. Which one do you like better?

  1. Swedish meatballs have a smoother consistancy. Where Italian meatballs you want to gently mix together, Swedish meatballs however get ground all together. I don't put oregano and basil in Swedish meatballs, so they rely on the sauce more for flavor.

  2. swedish meatball recipes vary so mush there is no real way to know which ones you are used to eating. Like my mom just uses salt and pepper to season the meatballs but other people use onion and garlic and so many other things.

  3. I'm Swedish and we put cloves and allspice in our meatballs whereas the Italians prefer garlic and oregano.

  4. Swedish meatballs are rarely used in Italian pasta dishes -- they are generally smaller in size and softer in consistency than Italian meatballs.

  5. Sweedish are appetizer meatballs in a cream based sauce. Very tasty and very 1970s.  Of course Italian are usually seasoned with oregano and parsley and served in a red or "rosa" sause. Very tasty and never trendy
