  1. Depends on where you are from.  In the states, they're called french fries.. in other countries, like parts of canada and the UK, they're called chips.  It's the same exact thing really.  Usually called chips when you order "Fish n Chips."  it's just Fish and Fries.

Unless you were actually referring to potato chips, like Ruffles or Lays.  The difference in that is how it is made.

  2. french fries are heathier

  3. French fries, in the American sense, tend to be thin, long and deep fried. Think McDonald's, Burger King, Jack In The Box.

Real English chips, the kind you get with Fish & Chips in England, tend to be cut thicker, deep fried, with the only additional ingredient being salt.

Most of the frozen fries available at supermarkets and fast food joints tend to be filled with preservatives, starch and other things to make them cheaper.

  4. there really is no difference. It just how people call them

  5. Nothing if you're from the UK. In the US, french fries are fried potato sticks that you dip in ketchup and chips are very thinly sliced potatoes that are deep fried and very crunchy.

  6. if it says fish n chips, it means fries

but otherwise it means potato chips
