i mean like for painting a car do u need a two or a one does 2 stage mean the motor will kick in when the air is low or does every compressor do that or does 2 stage mean that there are 2 outlets for the air. I know you have to go on psi and scfm but what is the differance?

thanks

  1. The two stage has two cylinders. The first one is the larger one and feeds into the second smaller one. It will charge faster to higher pressures than a single stage compressor. It is more expensive and could have features like pressure lubrication for the bearings. The more features it has usually means the duty cycle will go up. In other words you can use it harder like in a body shop where a sander may run for hours at a time.
