  1. linksys is awesome

  2. Cisco routers/switches etc (not Linksys) are considered to be top of the line industry leading technology by many. Kinda the Rolls Royce of the industry.

Becoming a Cisco Engineer requires expensive schooling but once you graduate you are in high demand and paid VERY well.

  3. Networking is a broad discipline covering transmission protocols, hardware, etc.  Cisco's hardware products are ubiquitous.  Although networking is the same, Cisco has some proprietary protocols and models that their products implement.  Networking concepts are common, it's just the way Cisco implements certain things that are different.  That way, each company like Linksys, D-Link, and of course, Cisco manufacturing routers, switches and other equipment have some commands which work only on their systems and not others.  So networking, as a discipline/subject, remains the same everywhere.....Hope this helps...

  4. In truth - the amount of money you spend!
