  1. A diesel is an Internal Combustion engine.

A diesel engine uses heat generated by high compression to ignite an air/fuel mixture, a gasoline engine uses a spark plug to ignite it.

  2. Internal Combustion is common in whether diesel or petrol engine.Diesel engine ignites diesel by compression by the pump on the nozzles whereas in petrol engine the spark plug ignites the petrol.

  3. a diesel engine is an internal combustion engine..IC engines is a common term used to engines where the fuel id burnt in side the cylinder block.. diesel is used in diesel engine and it is burnt by compressing air and finally spray the fuel in it....

  4. I.C engine is a general term used to mention all the internal combustion engines.Diesel engine uses diesel for internal combustion,so it is specificall mentioned as diesel engine. But it is also an I.C engine.
