What is the difference between 3 point and 5 point harness car seat? Do belts look defferent?

I will look for new car seat for my soon 1 year old.

  1. A 3 point looks like a side ways V(>) and a 5 point is just 2 3 points (><) the 5 will give you more safety in a crash


  2. All convertible carseats have 5 point harnesses which are far safer than 3 point.  The only seats with 3 point harnesses are some infant seats and the overhead shield seats  (which aren't as safe anyway).

    We have 2 Britax Marathons and LOVE them!  They are initially pricy, but will fit most children until they are truly ready for a booster with seatbelt (over 40lbs and 4 years old).
