  1. coefficient is the number multiplied by a variable in a term. and the quotient, kind of like the number your'e going to divide by or divide out.


  2. A coefficient is a very broad term that basically means the answer to a math question or a constant when compared to a variable. A quotient is a very specific term that is used to signify the answer of a mathematical division problem.

    In other words, all quotients are coefficients but not all coefficients are quotients :)
