  1. for miniDV there is little difference. NTSC updates frames 30 times per second, and PAL updates 25 times per second. Because less frames are used, PAL compensates by having more lines (vertical pixels) per frame. The data rate is exactly the same, 25 MPBS, so most computer software can intake either format.


  2. how many lines per inch, and the AC frequency.  they are not compatible at all.  you can't play PAL in a VHS machine, and vice-versa.  You CAn pay someone to convert the video from one format to another.  Most Yellow Pages show that under Video.

    neither has anything to do with downloading to your local machine.
