I'm wanting to buy an old mustang but I would like to know if there are any real differences between the 66, 67,and 68 mustangs? I would also like to know what year you like best out of those three years. Thanks.

  1. 1967 you can buy new.  you do not have to find one.  you can mod. and not fill like you are cuting up history.  Brand New car for $40,000.

If that's what you want.  good luck.  I like the 69 mustang  have fun.

  2. The 65,66 are the first series and 67,68 are the second. the 67 has a wider body to accommodate the optional 390 engine..it also had a complete body update with 3 separate tail lights that curved inward at the center..

  3. Not much difference in those three years.

  4. The three years used basically the same body. The grille on the '67 and '68 came a little further forward, the rear panel and taillights were different and the '66 had a sort of a crease around the rear window. The engines were the same except that in '67 and '68 you could get a 390 in the GT. I'd be glad to have any of those years, but I just like the '65-'66 the best. My first car was a '66 hartop, 6 cylinder, three-speed (we changed it to auto) and a bench seat! It was a rust-free Arkansas car, but it broke all the time (not because it was a bad car, but because it was from Arkansas, knowwhutimean?) Get a V8 car because the sixes used stupid four-lug wheels and I could never find nice mags for mine.

  5. very little. just a few detail's. any of those years would be nice.

  6. Go with the info SVO Man gives,  Rarely wrong.  But he did forget the 64 1/2 is the same as the 65 and 66.  The 67 and 68's had many safety improvements over the first generation mustangs, and the 68 was the year side marker light began.  Because of the lights many people prefer the 67.

  7. The 1st generation is 1964 1/2 to 1966

    2nd Generation 1967 1968

    3rd Generation 1969 1970

    4th Generation 1971 1973

After that we won't worry about it.

I like the 1967 68 but do like the Boss 302 Mach I from 1969 70. The 67 68 Fastback is the first full fastback not a quarter fastback like the 65 66 stuff. Also a lot tighter car in 67 68 and much more room to play with the engine compartment since it can handle a 390, 427, 428 motor plus the Shelby's for that year are awesome.
