  1. 2 ounces.

  2. Jeff H is correct, the heavier for your hands, the softer for your opponent's face, Im not 100% sure of regulations, but i think it's Illegal in pro boxing to use 6oz(and below) gloves b/c of their potential to hurt.  so if you are less than 140lbs use 8-10 oz.... and if you are above 140, use 12,14 oz...

  3. The heavier the glove the harder they will hit when you swing. BUT they will also tire you out quicker because they are so heavy.

  4. The heavier the glove, the more padding in the glove. My friends and I would box in the back yard and I would much rather get hit with the 12oz gloves than the 8 oz gloves. They will tire your arms out quicker, but that will also increase your stamina.

Start out with the heavier glove, your head will appreciate it.

  5. There was a rule that 8 ounces were used for title matches and regular boxing matches.  Anything heavier for sparring.  Lately they have been using bigger gloves for the heavier fighters, to match there bigger fists from I think Welterweight to Heavyweight but I am not totally sure of that..
