  1. ADD = Attention Deficit Disorder

ADHD = Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder

ADHD includes hyperactivity. Someone with only ADD will suffer from problems with concentration and thinking clearly, they are restless and often unable to handle sitting still too long and remaining quiet. People with ADHD are far more aggressive, violent, hyperactive, they have outbursts of anger, rage, intense activity and restlessness.

  2. ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder.  People who are really ADD usually get missed growing up because they are not bouncing off the walls.  They are true space shots, maybe a bit pensive.

ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  These people bounce off the walls and might be known as the class clown.  They stand out more compared to their ADD counterparts.

  3. One is a catch-all used as an excuse to drug bored students in our oppressive public school systems, and the other is a catch-all used as an excuse to drug students in our oppressive public school systems.

  4. There is no such thing as a person being diagnosed with ADD anymore. Recently, the DSM has done away with ADD and now a person can only be diagnosed with ADHD. Therefore, I believe that the psychological community has seen no major difference between the two, since ADD is no longer a known diagnosis.

ADHD (Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder) typically presents itself during childhood, and is characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity, as well as forgetfulness, poor impulse control or impulsivity, and distractibility.

  5. ADD...Attention Deficit Disorder...hard time concentrating on any one thing.

ADHD...Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder...same as above but very active...or hyper.

That is my understanding...but I am not a Dr.

    Best Wishes!
