I really want to go abroad as an exchange student (I'm a sophomore in high school) and researching on the internet and asking questions at my school I've come across two programs:

AFS (American Field Service):

http://www.afs.org/afs_or/home

AYUSA Global Youth Exchange:

http://www.ayusa.org/

Is there a difference between what these organizations do? And does anyone know any other foreign exchange programs?

Oh. One thing is that AFS provides foreign exchange with Austria, which is my first choice for the exchange, but AYUSA does not.

Is there one program that is better than the other?

  1. AFS is like being in the Army, AYUSA on the other hand treat their students and families with respect.

I would highly recommend AYUSA one thing to remember the Exchange programs are regulated by the Dept. of State and AYUSA is one of two Placement organizations that were granted the prestigious YES and FLEX Grant programs by the Dept. of State, also they are one out of only four programs that have had a full listing with CSIET since CSIET was started.

You will not go wrong hosting with AYUSA
