  1. A I R-All India Radio- A broadcasting company now no more in existence.

    F M--It is not a company . It is Frequency Module at which the radio signals r transmitted

I think you are refering to ALL india radio and private fm channels on radio this days.All india radio is a govenment body and it has sub body which brodcasts regional programs as well and they use one frequency to brodcast .where as the FM radio channels are operated by private companies and they use a particular frequency by seeking permission of government to brodcast thier programs.

  4. FM is a technology for relaying radio signals in a limited geography and AIR or All India Radio is a radio station which uses this technology.

  5. I believe you mean AM(not AIR) and FM

    These are the type of radio waves used to broadcast sound.

    1. AM: Stands for Alternate Modulation.

    2. FM: Stands for Frequency Modulation or Modulated Frequency.

    3. AIR: Stands for All India Radio, the stations are located in major Indian cities and at one time it was commercial free and was nationalise by Indian Government. I do not know its status to-day but then it was  on AM system of broadcasting.

    You do have various ranges in AM system,

    1. Short Wave system (Penetrates furthest), used for long distances and Inter space communications.

    2. Medium Wave, This is what most AM stations use and have relay stations, to increase the coverage area.

    3. Long wave, police radios at one time was using this system and submarine communication uses this system.

    These are the type of radio waves used to broadcast sound.

  6. AIR stands for ALL INDIA RADIO

    it is the radio station which is under the government.

    FM  on the other hand stands for Frequency Modulation which provides high-fidelity sound over broadcast radio.

    Another modulation is the AM standing for amplitude modulation which sends music in medium frequency.
