Are they recruited out of the same office? Can you go in one as a higher rank than another? Are the chances of getting promoted better in one than the other?

  1. Air National Guard is part of the Air Force while the Army National Guard is part of the Army.  The MOS in each are different.  They do not recruit out of the same offices as they are different branches.  I would bet your chance for promotion are better in the Army NG - they have more slots for people which leads to greater turnover.

You cannot go to an Air Force recruiter or an Army recruiter for either NG - they have their own recruiters that recruit for the state they are located in.

  2. Their different. I believe that the Army National Guard is still associated w/the USA and the Air National Guard is associated w/the state that the ANG is in. Depending on the troop strenght and the billets open, that will determine the possibility for advancement. It's all up to the individual.

  3. The Air National Guard is a reserve component of the Air Force.

The Amy National Guard is a reserve component of the Army.

They have seperate recruiting offices.  Go to an Army Recruiting Office for the Army National Guard, and an Air Force Recruiting Office for the Air National Guard.  Or go to a unit, they often have a recruiter at the units locations.

You cannot really say the Air National Guard promotes faster then Army National Guard, it depends more on your MOS, the population in your unit or state (since guard units belong to a state), and your ability.  Certain MOSs will promote faster then others, you cannot really compare the two together too well.

  4. You're probably better off in the Army if you want rank. ANG has slot for e5 and from there it's hard. Most of the people in my unit made it to e5 and were stuck there.
