  1. The Canadain Border Security Agency is responsible for the physical security of our border, and they are the  first people that you will talk to when you enter Canada.

Immigration Canada is responsible for the administration  of the application process for people who apply to become eligible to enter Canada, as Immigrants.  They also keep track of who comes and goes from Canada,  and they do enforcement to remove illegals and those  who have been  ordered deported for criminal convictions / acts in Canada.

Both agencies have people at Canadian ports of entry, such as airports and land crossings. They all have " peace officer " status, and full  powers of arrest,  and  some CBSA members are armed with firearms.  CBSA members  can search people, vehicles, aircraft and ships, to ensure that no illegal items or people are trying to enter Canada.

Immigration Canada persons can question anyone, at the port of entry about their identity, r their eason for entering Canada, and their Immigration status in Canada. There is a along list of reasons why a person may be " denied entry to Canada ".

The  stamps are to show that the holder of the passport has been "cleared to enter  Canada" by both CBSA and Immigration Canada. Any  legal restrictions will also be attached to the  passport.
