  2. Sudhir something said that Carnatic music is a "sub-domain" of Hindustani music. It is not. Both are, however, branches of Indian classical music. As pointed out previously, Hindustani music is centered in the Northern regions of India, while Carnatic is from the South.

Although both styles share many similarities, their structures vary. The scales, or the raagas resemble each other, but the use of the gamaka in Carnatic music sets it apart from Hindustani. The gamaka is an "embellishment" to the raaga. Hindustani music has its roots in Persian or Mughal music.

    Hope that helps!

  3. Carnatic music is from South India and shows little, if any, influence from outside of India.

Hindustani music is from North India and is influenced by Persian and Muslim culture.

  4. Curnataki music is part of Hindustani (Indian) music it is like sub domain.
