  1. DVD is usually plus (+) or a minus (--) sign; then its says R or RW

You have to get the 'type' of disc that the recorder you are using accepts. Most computers I think accept both (youd have to check with others on here to make sure Im right there, but I think I am)

DVD recorders usually say in their manuals and paperwork that comes with them WHICH disc they can use. Some use both, but be careful because some only use ONE type. and if you have the wrong type youre doomed!! You need another shopping trip haha!!

R discs you use if you are just using the disc once, and once you have something on them you cant put anything else on. The machine you use will FINALISE the disc, making it unusable for a second time

RW means that unless you TELL the machine to FINALISE (i.e. if you used it for a film that you wanted to keep forever) the disc ... otherwise you can use the disc over and over again as many times as you want to or need to. Apparently they are able to be used hundreds of times, so its well worth going for the RW discs

Just make sure you read the manual and paperwork of your machine to find out whether you need the plus or minus discs

    Hope that helps you some

(Personally, I wish people here wouldnt assume that we are all computer and electronic whizzkids - - some of us are incompetent idiots...Im the WORST!!!! LOL)

  2. actually there is no difference in these

  3. There is no DVD R ... typically that is used as short hand for any recordable dvd format; the most common of which is DVD-R. There is also DVD+R and DVD-RAM.

DVD-R plays in just about anything. You might run into problems trying to run DVD+R on some brands of DVD player, though PC DVD drives do just fine with it. DVD-RAM pretty much only works with Panasonic DVD recorders. Even some Panasonics players won't accept it.
