  1. Generally a one-handed backhand provides better reach, sharper angles and more spin while a two-handed is a flatter more driving ground stroke.

From a mechanics point of view the one-handed backhand requires better timing and is more difficult to hit. Your contact point is farther in front of you than a two-handed and your grip is more eastern.

The follow through differs in that your shoulders and torso remain sideways as your arms extend up (makes you look like a capital T) as opposed to around the body like in a two-handed.

  2. A Double handed backhand has a lot more power but the natural motion of the single handed backhand provides a little bit of spin.

It all depends how you feel about it.

  3. Reach - The 1 hander provides greater reach than the 2 hander

Mobility - I find the 1 hander easier to hit on the run

Consistency - The 2 hander since you have both hands on the racquet, it inherently gives you a more controlled swing.

Power - 2 hander gives more power, in fact if you try it and remove your right hand from the stroke (left hand if ur lefty) you'll see that your left (or right) arm movement is exactly like a left (or right) handed forehand.

I personally use a 2 handed backhand, since I have quick feet to get there early, but if i need to reach or hit on the run, I'll pull out a 1 handed slice.

  4. you use two hands in a double handed backhand, but only one in a single handed backhand.  both styles could hit winners... depending on comfortability...

  5. a double handed backhand offers more support and power. you will get a good hit if you hold the racket with both hands.

the single handed backhand is more for experts because its harder and you have to have a strong wrist and arm. also your aim has to be right.

i do a doublehanded backhand cuz im good at it.

    hope i helped :)

  6. well a double handed is more for a beginner and a singel is harded the for experinced
