What is the difference between Geosciences and Geology? How you you chose between the two?

I am trying to solidify my college major, and having only about a month before applications must begin to go out I need to be decided, so please if you have an answer, respond with haste.

  1. Geosciences deals with the earth and its systems. Geology focuses mainly on the earth's crust.

Geoscience is a blanket term for the earth sciences.  Geology is part of geoscience, as well as other earth sciences like geophysics, meteorology and environmental science.  Basically, if you're a geologist, you are a geoscientist.  But if you're a geoscientist, it doesn't mean you're a geologist.

    Geologists study the history of the earth, how it was formed and how it's changing.  It's a more specific study.

    If you're unsure, you can always go for geoscience and then as you take courses you can narrow it down to the specific field you're most interested in.
