  1. on gundam seed it's a war between naturals (Natural born) and coordinators (genetically enhanced) from colonies. gundam wing is a war between colonies and earth.

  2. The differences is the plot and characters.

Gundam is said one of the famous series so they made loads of sequels, which is annying sometimes.

  3. To understand the nature of Gundam series of today, you more or less need to understand the original series, and its direct sequels.  Think of each series set being a Gundam universe.

First, you have the original, or "Universal Century" gundam serieses.  These are old, but the writing is top-notch.  Don't get too attached to the main characters, though, as they tend to drop like flies when Yoshiyuke Tomino is in the director's chair.

The first "alternate" universe was Mobile Fighter G-Gundam, a stand-alone series.  It makes fun of DBZ intensively, only with giant robots.

The second stand-alone series was Wing Gundam, with the Endless Waltz OVA forming a semi-sequel.

Gundam X is an alternate telling of the Universal Century's timeline, only with Wing's "Deus Ex Machincannon" syndrome.

Turn-A Gundam is actually rather interesting, as 1.) Tomino made an anime with a HAPPY ending, and 2.) it kind of hints the alternate universes and the Universal Century are actually connected somehow.

Gundam SEED was the most recently created AU plotline until current.  It's supposed to be yet another Wing-style retelling of the original series, updated to modern conventions of anime (complete with guys who look so girly, their makeup is thicker than the girls').  SEED: Destiny being SEED's equivalent to Zeta Gundam, but with a poorly re-hashed ending from the first SEED series.

Gundam 00 is the CURRENT Alternate Universe, stand-alone story.  By all reports, it's worth watching.  Currently, in Japan it's still on hiatus until the second half of series 1 kicks off.

G-Saviour doesn't count, and for the love of God, avoid it.  It's the classic example of why anime should NOT be made live-action.
