1. Hemp is a different strand of the cannabis plant. It contains no THC (well, very, very little).

  2. Sorry Island Nomad, I'll have to correct you there, marijuana is not the leaf on the plant.

OK well they are from the same family of plant but, in a nutshell, hemp doesn't have any THC content (that's the stuff that gets you stoned) Marijuana/cannabis only has the effects of getting you stoned and arguably some health benefits or negative side effects (depending on who you ask, and who pays the people you ask lol) You couldn't smoke hemp.

Hemp on the other hand is an amazing material. When grown properly it can be made into clothing, rope, h**l, you could build a small house from hemp and it would only cost about $800, plus it's a totally sustainable resource...

  3. They are different but have a similar look.

In 1619 Jamestown Colony, Virginia enacted laws ordering farmers to grow hemp. Similar laws were enacted in Massachusetts in 1631, Connecticut in 1632 and the Chesapeake Colonies in the mid-1700's.

Even though the U.S. government encouraged American farmers to grow hemp for WWII and had even accepted it as payment of taxes in Colonial America, it is now prohibited to grow hemp in the United States.

  4. hemp is the actual plant and marijuana is the leaf on the plant.
