What is the difference between Irish and Scottish people?

No racial discrimination or anything. But I am disappointed in Scottish people and would like to know what to expect from Irish. And I know that everyone is different but I am interested in national morale. For example, In Stirling (Scotland), I walk on the street and people push me and say sorry but they dont mean it. Also, there are 12 year old kids running about asking me if I had lighter. These kind of things. Thanks for your answers though.

  1. Maybe the Scottish are just more sick and tired of moronic tourists than the Irish are... It is silly to ask which are nicer/better. You will find friendly people and hateful people wherever you go.

  2. What's the difference between Chinese and French People?

  3. I lived in Ireland for a semester as a college student and did some traveling in Scotland as well. I actually found the people in both countries to be warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly. Yes, some people do drugs in Ireland. Probably more than when I was there. Yes, some people are lazy....unfortunately, that is true in all cutlures. As for young kids asking if you have a lighter...that will probably be true in Ireland as well. There is still a decent bit of smoking that goes on there, and it isn't unusual to find younger kids smoking.

  4. "first of all, english is widely spoken in Ireland"

uhmmm... you'd be hard pressed to find people in Ireland who didn't speak English as their first language!  If you didn't speak a word of English you might have trouble in Ireland.

  5. irish are born in ireland

    scottish are born in scotland

  6. the best way to make friends in ireland is to buy drink for every irish person you encounter, start in kilkenny, ill help with your cultural learning hehehehe heheheheheh heehee he

some irish people take drugs, try a niteclub, ones that play dance music should provide ou with a few e's

  7. what a totally stupid question you disappointed in Scottish people sure they terribly disappointed in you too!!!

  8. irish people are from ireland.. and scottish people are from scotland.

in my opinion.. irish people are way nicer and more friendly then scottish. I've been to both Ireland and Scottland. Scottish people seem to be alot more rude, and dont seem to care about you at all. But Irish, are very outgoing and helpfull to tourists. I am almost certain that if you went to Ireland and couldnt speak a word of english, they would be alot more helpfull to you rather than if you went to scotland with the same situation.

  9. Hmm... what's up with the fishing for ethnic stereotypes? Like any other ethnicity, there are good and bad folks, lazy and hard-working ones. You can't paint all the people there with the same brush.

Same goes with the drugs. Of course there are drug users there, just like anywhere else, and plenty of non-users too.

  10. First of all, English is widely spoken in Ireland. You might have trouble communicating with people for reasons other than linguistic ones.

I don't know if Irish are nicer than Scottish, I've met quite a number of Scots and they were lovely.

As far as I know, drugs are used widely in both places.

  11. Generally, people are all pretty much the same. I find Irish people to be a bit more friendly and forthcoming than the Scottish, but obviously I am biased as I'm Irish.
