  1. I think you likely mean the difference between KB/second and Kb/second.  KB is kilobyte, and Kb is kilobit.

    1byte = 8 bits (a bit is a digital 0 or 1)

    So essentially a KB is 8 times the size of a Kb, or in reference to time it is 8 times faster.

    The 'k' is just a standard metric prefix for 1,000.

    Here is the tree:

    byte (8 0's or 1's)

    kilobyte

    megabyte

    gigabyte

    terabyte

    .....

    The same prefix could be used with bits, but bytes are more common.  Again, remember the difference between and prefix + bit or byte is 8.
