  1. You can do a google search for the difference between both; there are many differences.

Typically, you get a better picture with LCD, but Plasma costs less and is available in larger sizes.

  3. LCD when you see it from the side the image darkens and plasma you see a bunch of little dots I recomend a dlp where the image is pretty much perfect

  4. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display, on the screen between the two layers of glass is a thin layer of liquid that illuminates the pixels when the electrons are passed through it.

On a plasma screen, there is usually xenon gas or some other type of gas that the electrons pass through.

Plasma in itself is just an electrified gas, a good example of this is flourescent lights.

  5. A lot of the argument is in the picture, supposedly plasma is a clearer picture. But there is a limit. Compare it to a digital camera for a moment. Anything over say, 5.0 mega pixels is a waste, simply because the human eye is not capable of seeing the difference. That's basically what it comes down to. LCD is extremely clear, plasma may be better but you are unable to notice it. Unless you spend an extensive amount of money on an HD cable package, HDMI cables, HD DVD player, And HD DVDs, it's just not worth it. Also, while shipping you cannot lay a plasma TV down, it has to remain upright or else you will damage the screen, opposed to LCD where you could ship it sideways and backwards if that suits you. The downside to LCD though is that if the screen is frozen on one picture for an extended period of time, microscopic pixels will start to burn out. Even though this may not be seen immediately, over time if this happens again and again, you will see small red and black specs in your screen which will never go away. Those are the main differences that I am aware of, I'm sure there are a few more i don't know about.
