What is the difference between OxiClean and Borax, besides price?

I know both products are "laundry boosters" but what are the key ingredients? Is OxiClean really worth the extra cost?

  1. Borax is derived from Boron, a water-softening agent that helps your detergent work better.  Oxiclean produces hydrogen peroxide when combined with water - it's more of a bleach but less harsh than your usual chlorine bleaches..

  2. Borax is an old fashioned cleaner and I think it has more uses than OxiClean. I used both before and I notice they leave a strange residue on your hands if you dilute them in water and touch the water. I don't like OxiClean because it's $7 for a small tub. Borax is $2 for a large box. I don't use either of them because personally, they're a waste. I use a good brand detergent, fabric softener, and stain remover. There's no need to "boost" my already good detergent.

  3. I believe oxiclean contains borax. But no they arn't much different.
