  1. Martial arts always have a "martial" component. That is after all what the distinction is. Sports are played for recreation. Martial arts sports are sports with a "martial" component, though played more for recreation than combat, as in boxing or wrestling or mixed martial arts as seen on TV.

Physical education is for teaching you how to be fit and has a wellness component. Physical fitness is an important part of all the fore mentioned.

  2. Physical Education is a program at school that teaches general fitness and conditioning.

Sports is generally a game with certain rules taught by a coach, but can cover anything physical.

Martial Arts includes military and combat skills of all types, including but not limited to karate, self-defense, kung fu, sword fighting, weapons training, judo, etc.

  3. These are not exclusive categories.

Something can fit into 1, 2 or all 3 categories.

e.g.; Sports Judo taught for academic credit.

  4. Physicall Education could be just exercise without any sport or martial component, such as pushups, situps, etc.

Sport may or may not be Physical, i.e. golf or ping pong.  It usually doesn't contain a martial component.

Martial Arts usually contain all three, but may not be sport if it is something like Aikido.
