What is the difference between Pokemon and Digimon?

My son is a big fan of them but I can’t tell the difference between them, can someone explain the difference, all this Korean stuff looks the same.

another thing is that digimon tends to be a little bit more emotional depressing sometimes.

It also has a connection to the more urban world and fights between them.

The backstory behind some of the digimons are way darker and unsetteling then pokemon can ever be xD

also pokemon only of one evolution path to follow .. while digimon have many diffrent pathes judgeing on means of evolution or the energy it has absorbed from it's partner or "digidestine" i for one think digimon is better it has a little more developed story line .. while pokemon is pretty much just go out and kill these things .. the show tries to make a point of friendship but i dunno if im the only one that doesnt get how they do it through beating eachother to a pulp or makeing them eletricute or engulf eachother in flames.. while in digi mon they get the point across a little better wiht needing the friendship in order to digivole or they have to use they're key emotion/trait to make them evolve in to bigger better stronger creatures in order to bettter protect they're partner / world from evil
