I plan on moving to one of those islands. So, has anyone been to all three? If so, what is the diff in terms of lifestyle, demographics, rates of poverty, violent crime, women, etc?

Gracias, amigas y amigos!

  1. Puerto Rico: I'm Puerto Rican, Puerto Rico is a beautiful place to live, has many wonderful landscapes, beaches, People, malls, and many touristics places to visit. The crime here is bad to worse, but if you choose a good place to live u will have any problems. Womens here are one of the most beautiful women in the world, de eso no te quejaras jaja.

Cuba: I've never been in Cuba, but Cuba has many beautiful places too!. What i dont of Cuba is that they have not too much liberty. But is beautiful.

Dominican Republic: Dominican Republic is super beautiful!!. When I visit it I was very sorprise about the landscapes from there. They are very poor, but they are very carismatic people. Womens are pretty. The crime there is quite bad. But is a good place too.

I love Puerto Rico!... Arriba los Boricuas!! jaja, take care, bye bye.

  2. Cuba is becoming a socialist country... (Mixture of capitalist reforms but still strong government ownership.)

Dominican Republic is largely casting off past problems and can be considered an open, democratic, free-market supporting country.

Puerto Rico is a nation-state that is trying to retain their cultural indentity and uniqueness while attempting to gain more sovereignty to manage their own issues and affairs.

  3. Cuba is a communist country, theres alot of poverty, crime, prostitution ect.

Dominican republic is democratic, but theres alot of crime, the electricity sucks and the government is corrupt. Youre better off in puerto rico.

  4. geographically speaking they are very related, the difference its the size of the islands ofcourse cuba is bigger, RD is the middle one and PR the smallest. Historically, well its also basically the same. african, european and native indian mix. The food its almost related, with a few twists and changes, but rice, beans, plantain and chicken are traditional foods. now, the government well, unless ur communist and believe that the president its in charge of the people and their is no vote or human rights in terms of laws and government, well cuba its ok(not recommended). DR, government is really corrupt and their is barely any funds for the people, there is a lot of poverty. PR, the government its also quite corrupt but its basically internal issues and even thought it still affects the people, well there is more justice and no poverty, there are social classes(middle class and rich) but you dont see children eating from garbage cans and in the streets, but there is a lot of drug addicts in the streets that look like bums. DR and PR have the highest crime rate, PR crime rate its basically related to drugs and robbery, althought for robbery they rearly kill. woman in PR as normal, lol modern and stylish, in DR and Cuba (i dont know) maybe because of the poverty they may look less plastic. well, in terms of lifestyle party, vacation, fun and nightlife. in terms of demo. the metro area its very populated, all PR is highly populated, but the country is more relaxed. The difference is in currency (American dollars) are the same in PR and its easier for tourists, also we dont need a passport to travel back and foward from USA to PR, because its a common wealth. The dominant languages in PR are english and spanish, so 80% of the islanders know english.

  5. Cuba and The Dominican Republic are INDEPENDENT Spanish speaking country. Puerto rico is riding the US **** a lot. {Obviously!!!)

  6. Well, Cuba is a communist/socialist country so you would probably not like it so much over there...The Dominican Republic has high crim and poverty rates and along the boarder with Haiti things can get very chaotic/dangerous.

Puerto Rico would be your best bet as it has the lowest crime rate (though crime still persists) and they have more english speakers than any of the other listed islands. Also, since they are a territory of the U.S. it will be easier to find a job, recognize billing systems, school systems, currency is the same etc.

Also, the people are very welcoming: i would avoid places like Bayamon, and Celada and some parts of bigger cities such as San Juan and POnce because of crime rates, though there are many nice places to live comparable to U.S. suburbs.

There are also many things that you will notice are the same, in San Juan there can be found gyms, malls, high end retailers, libraries, universities. The people are very welcoming to Americans and never refrain from helping someone get around the island.

There are many beautiful places to visit as well as beaches, natural beauties, traditional and modern art places and GREAT architeture from colonial times (my personal fav)

here are some properties i found for you to look into:

(though of course, when hecking for homes i think it's best to survey the area not just the home, typically (obviously) nicer areas will be more expensive)

    =)

    hope this helped!

  7. Depending on your citizenship, you may or may not be allowed to move to those countries.  All countries have immigration laws, just as the US does, and they control who can stay in the country permanently.

  8. Dominicans eat Mangu, Puerto Ricans  Mofongo, and Cubans  Tamal in Cazuela.

  9. Cuba is closed to AmeriKans.  Puerto Rico is just like moving to michigan.  The D.R. is a third world country and all those countries are Spanish Speaking

  10. Puerto Rico is like Paradise.

    Cuba is a communist island.

Dominican Republic has way too much suffering......too many poor ppl.

I have been to PR - I loved it for the moment I could see it through the window of the plane, I when back home and asked my mother why she didn't give birth to me there, I'd love to live there, the ppl, the food, the malls, the beaches, everything is perfect.

I have never been to Cuba, I imagine I would like to visit but I am a free spirit so I don't think Cuba is the place for me.

I have also been to the Dominican Republic.......I stayed in Santo Domingo, the Hotel was nice, the malls are ok. The ppl are prejudice & superficial for the most part & 1/4 of the population lives in abject povery so of course the crime rate is very high & the electricity tend to go out a couple times a day for about 20 mins. at a time, seeing little children with hunger eched on their faces in the streets begging for money was the one thing I remember most, that and the guy by the intersection who was missing both his right hand & leg but who would stand there all day every day with a tin can hoping to be able to get something to eat by the end of each day but hey.........the women are very beautiful & go for US$15-20 in the grotos (ain't sure of the spelling) if you are into that.
