What is the difference between Sarah Palin's disabled son and her pregnant daughter?

Sarah Palin has a lot on her plate. She just gave birth to a remarkable son. I am a new mom as well and I know that if my son was disabled. I love him just as much, no question about it.

My question is, why when Sarah Palin was introduced, all I heard about was her and her family and her recent addition; a son with disabilities. It was proclaimed that she was a family woman, she cared about her family, she had a son with a disability....

Now, that her seventeen year old daughter turns up pregnant, family is off limits.

What is the difference?

Actually with a family of that size, can you expect the husband to full time take care?  

VP is an important job, and honestly, it is your #1 priority, if your son is in trouble, you better stay put and DO YOUR JOB.  Being a public servant is making a sacrifice.  You need to do your duty to the country first, to your family later.

B/C people were touting her disabled son as her 'heroic' moment in life..."she's so great, she didn't abort her child.....look how great she is for not aborting her baby!!!"

Frankly, I thought that was nonsense....most women do no abort their children....I don't know how that makes her a hero. Regardless, now her family is 'off limits' b/c they aren't helping her and McCain's campaign...simple as that.

Oh please! This country needs to grow up. Honestly, what does her daughters' pregnancy have to do with her running for VP? The difference is that people are searching for dirt on these four candidates and they think they have something on her with this, and so soon, too!!! Because the baby was positive attention, and her daughter is negative.  And the argument that Obama said family should be off-limits doesn't really work in this case.  I mean, Democrats aren't the party where the religious people who are outraged by the very thought of pre-marital s*x make up their base, unlike the Republicans.  And thus, it becomes an issue of her morals and parenting skills, which does translate to leadership ability/being VP.

This type of thing is destined to happen to any high profile Republican, especially when running for office.

The Republicans go on and on about their values only to be discredited by something that goes against what said republican preaches.

In this instance, though, I think people need to lay off Palin. I'm not voting for McCain, but I still think the media needs to just let this one go. Her daughter is pregnant. She's probably PISSED.

CHILDREN should be off limits...but PARENTS are fair game. Particularly when THEY carry on about FAMILY VALUES and state that they are qualified because the are HOCKEY MOMS!

As a mother and a journalist, she HAD to have known that this would throw her daughter on to the national stage. Being 17 is tough. Being pregnant is tough. Being 17, pregnant AND the talk of the nation must be devastating. A good mother would NEVER EVER purposly put her child in that position. A good mother would not abandon her newborn child. Running for VP is going to take 25 hours a day 8 days a week - there will be NO time for ANYTHING else. IF she wants to frame herself as such a great mother, then we have a right to question that. It is about FAMILY VALUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
