A Tivo is a brand of DVR. Yes, a Series 1 or Series 2 Tivo can switch between a satellite box and cable (with or without a box). The Tivo has RF and composite video inputs. You connect one system to each input and set up the tivo (by redoing the guided setup) to work with both. You'll need the RF blaster wire to change channels on satellite and the cable box.
