What is the difference between WAN and LAN?

Hi everyone! Ive just started my first job and recently got such question. Boss told me there is bigger difference than the area covered and speed. What would You answer? Thank you all.

  1. WAN stands for Wide Area Network and LAN stands for Local Area Network

  2. LAN stands for Local Area Network while WAN is Wide Area Network. Local Area Network or the LAN might be consist of 2 or more computers located within the same place. On the other hand the WAN is a connection between multiple computers located on wide space or on different area.

    LAN = Local Area Network

    The Internet is an example of a WAN. A home network is an example of a LAN.
