What is the difference between WMV and MPEG2? And is the better format.?

Neither format is "better". It depends what you want to do with it.

Both formats have multiple compression methods to allow bigger or smaller file sizes. MPEG2 is more standards based while WMV is more Microsoft-proprietary.

If I have to pick one of the two then I would say MPEG2 is the "better" format - less compressed and more standard than .wmv.
