Question:

What is the difference between a 6'10" funboard and a fish?

I've been trying to get into shortboarding, but have been mainly surfing with a 6'10" funboard. I also have a 6'7" shortboard in my garage, but it has a lot of rocker, and is a huge challenge for me to stand up on - I guess I've been spoiled by the ease of longboarding for several years. Another challenge is the often waist-high surf conditions. Any suggestions? Do I have any hope of converting to that shortboard? Thanks!

  1. A funboard has more of a round tip and is shape in more of an oval a fish is usually for shredders and usually has more of a point to it

  2. 6'7" is pretty short. if you can surf already you will know what conditions favor which boards and ride them accordingly. go garage saling to find another if you dont like the ones you have or spend 400 on a custom at your local shop.

  3. its hard i know. for the short board keep trying! if you ever go to oahu in hawaii, surf gums in northshore. its right next to pipe, and has a sand bar instead of coral. but keep practicing and youll get it!
