What is the difference between a DUI and DWI in Michigan?

Nothing.  the customary abbreviation varies from town to town and even neighbrohood to neighborhood.

Michigan used to have a two-tiered standard where .10 BAC was considered DWI (drunk) and .08 was DUI (impaired). Now they just have a single limit of .08 (and I think if you are under 21, the limit is .02). Their slogan is "Lower Limit, Tougher Law".

Now, I think the only distinction between DUI and DWI in Michigan is that DUI could be driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication, etc... while DWI is driving while intoxicated by only alcohol (.08 or .02 if you are under 21).
