  1. A major means you know a significant amount about something - a minor means you have more than just general knowledge - but not enough to have a major.  I do not think you can get minors with associates.

    Thanks

  2. your major is what area of study you did the most.  like history, or education, or what ever you have to declare you major.  this shoudl be done some time by sophomore year.  your minor is what you studied 2nd.

  3. A major is your specialization. A minor is meant to complement your major - your breadth of knowledge isn't as large. You can't have just a minor, but you can have just a major.

Often times people choose minors of interest (something they want to study, but don't necessarily want to commit their studies to) or minors that suite their majors or make them more marketable (business minors are common for their versatility).

I don't know exactly how they pertain to associates degrees. You do have to choose a discipline (in other words- major!) for your associates, but I don't know about the possibilities of minors. You can check in with the school you're earning the degree from and see what they offer and recommend. There's usually good information online and for more personalized answers I would check with an academic advisor.

    Good luck!

  4. The major is what you will mainly focus on your studies. The minor is just something extra that you are interested in, which is in addiction to your major.
