  1. Plasma TV's do a have "burn-in" effect.  If your a gamer I wouldn't recommend one.  As far as video picture it depends.  You need to look at the contrast ratio on the HDTV specs.  A greater contrast means the greater the ability of the TV or projector to show subtle color details (even in light rooms).  You do have to look at how much Ambient light you have in your room.

Ambient light is the light coming from your windows and such.  I wouldn't position my TV right across from a wall that has a couple of windows in it, but that's why drapes and curtains are for sale.  I prefer LCD or DLP TV's @ 1080p.  If you want the most out of your Blu-ray player you should go with a TV that has a native 1080p engine or supports 1080p.

I have both Xbox360 and PS3 and run mine through a Sony 60" SXRD and it all looks beautiful.  Just remember to check and see what the contrast ratio is, the greater the ratio the better.

      Hope this helps.

  2. choose plasma if your TV will be located in a dark room; LCD if it will be located in a bright room.  They say plasma is better if you are viewing movies/TV shows with a lot of action (e.g., sports). But I say location should dictate which one to buy as plasma has glare when located in a lit environment. Plasma tends to 'burn' (produce shadows) when a picture is paused for a long time.
