  1. They are different species. That means their genetic make-up is inherently different, not simply different like a brother and sister would be.

  2. If you see a large black bird in the sky, then it can be either a raven or a crow. They are closely related to each other  -- both corvids -- and there are several species of crows.

Ravens are larger, have a deeper voice, live in more remote areas, nest on cliffs, have a slightly downcurved bill, often play in the air current by "rolling". If you see a raven and a crow side by side there is no question about the differences.

  3. Yup.

Ravens are much larger than crows.

The sounds they make is also different.

Crows have a more nasal, higher pitched call, where a raven's call is lower, and hoarser..

Crows have a very fan-shaped tail, where raven's tails have more of a wedge-shape to them.

  4. Ravens are larger and heavier birds than crows.  They also have a heavier bill.  When in flight, ravens have a diamond shaped tail, while crows have a squared tail. They also have different calls, and inhabit slightly different habitats.
