I know nothing about these radios. My wife bought the Sportster 5 for fathers day, I have found the 4 is much cheaper but does it have the same functions. Also, how involved is the installation?

  1. They function the same, except that the Sportster 5 features the color graphic background and the Sportster 4 has a solid blue background.  Personally, I find the 5's background to be pretty terrible looking, and I would stick with the 4.

If you're talking about car installation, it depends on your car.  You need to route the antenna outside of your car and put it somewhere on your car (hood or trunk).  Then plug in the power cord into a 12v outlet (cigarette lighter outlet).

    Here's the tricky part:

If your car has a cassette deck or auxiliary input port, you can connect the Sirius radio directly to that.  If not, you will probably have to buy the FM Direct Adapter from Sirius and install it.  The hardest part about that is that you will need to get to the back of your car stereo in order to connect the FMDA.  If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, you can always take it to some place like Circuit City or Best Buy and have them install it.
