  1. They don't look similar, the 777 is a lot bigger than the 737. Most 737's have flattened engine nacelles to make for higher ground clearance while 777 models like the -300ER have the biggest turbofan on a commercial Airliner, the GE-90-115B. The 777 tail end(APU exhaust) looks flattened like a phillips screwdriver while the 737's APU exhaust is more rounded.

  2. The Boeing 777 is the flagship of the airline it is much bigger and better in almost every way the 777currently holds the world record for around the world in 22H and was the first aircraft to be designed using computers.

The 737 is the world best selling aircraft it is a wide body aircraft but couldn't travel nearly the distance in the same time.

A way to tell the difference is by the wheels the 777 has 3 rows of 2

    The 737 has 1 row of 3.

  3. The boeing 737 is a smaller aircraft than the boeing 777. Though they both boast 2 engines, one on each wing, the triple seven's engines are bigger.

The 777 is also more robust than the 737 hence, they can carry more passengers than a 737.

Lastly, the 777 is a more sophisticated commercial jet than a 737. It is boeing's latest aircraft (at least it was until the introduction of the new 7E7 or 787)

  4. The main difference between the two is their size.  The difference is not readily apparent from a distance because they are both twin engine aircraft.  The 777 is much larger. The 737 family of aircraft are the smallest of their line up and it is a narrow body design that first entered airline service in the 1960s.  The 777 entered service in 1995 and is a wide-body transport which has easily three times as many seats. The engines on the -300 model are huge and close to the size of the cabin of the 737.

Here's picture of the two planes.  The 737 is in the background.

  5. This is a easy question. The information is all on the web. You can by the Jane's Aircraft Recognition guide if you are really into it (like me). Anyway, just to add on, the General Electric turbofan engines on the 777 are the most powerful engines on a passenger airliner.
